| Professor Susan J. Bandy earned a B.A. in literature and physical education at Berry College (1970), an M.Ed. in physical education at the University of Georgia (1972), and a Ph.D. in sport studies at Arizona State University (1982). Before she joined the Program on Gender and Culture at the Central European University in 2000, she taught at San Diego State University, United States International University, and East Tennessee State University and was the assistant director of the Women’s Institute for Continuing Education in Paris. Her expertise is in the cultural study of sport with particular emphasis on the participation of women in sport and gender and the body. She has edited two books - Coroebus Triumphs: The Alliance of Sport and the Arts and Crossing Boundaries: An International Anthology of Women’s Experiences in Sport and one monograph devoted to women, sport, and literature, a special issue of Aethlon: The Journal of Sport Literature. She was a Fulbright Scholar to the Hungarian University of Physical Education from 1997 - 1999, a visiting professor in the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Science, Semmelweis University, Budapest from 1999 - 2003, and at Central European University from 2000 - 2003. At present she is a faculty member of the Center for Sport at Aarhus University. |
