Performance Outcome Measures for Probation

The University of Illinois @ Springfield, Center for Legal Studies is
involved in a multi-year project with the Administrative Office of Illinois
Courts (AOIC) to develop a statewide automated case specific information
system for Probation and Court Services. We are in the process of
identifying both output and outcome measures for effective practice.
Currently, the probation division collects and publishes data submitted by
county based probation departments from a monthly paper reporting system on
an aggregated basis. The system provides little insight into how probation
works or how well it works. The AOIC's goal is to create and implement an
automated offender specific database that will promote policy development,
resource allocation and outcome measures that are data driven.

I would be interested in any information you have about developing outcome
measurements for probation.
